Its that time of year again! Catching a cold can make you feel quite unwell for a few days, but isn't as serious an illness as it can seem to be to you while you are in the midst of it. The old saying "It takes three days to develop a cold, three days to have it, and three days for it to go away," is pretty accurate, so if your cold has lasted longer than around nine days its time to ask your medical advisor for help as it may not be a cold at all.

Flu, on the other hand, can be a serious illness, especially if you are very young, in old age or suffer from respiratory complaints already. There are quite a few different flu viruses, and each behaves differently, so what do you do to avoid catching a cold or flu, and what can you do to relieve the symptoms if you are unlucky enough to get it?

Did you know that your personality affects the way you cope with stressors in your life? Some people cope fine with levels of stress that others would find crippling. Our reactions to stress are partly inborn and partly learned throughout our lifetime. Everyone reacts to stress, it just depends on the level of stress you can handle before symptoms arise. Some people are really quite 'bomb proof' and seem to cope fine with a multitude of stressful situations, but even they will eventually react once the pressure becomes too much for them.

Asthma

Asthma is a very misunderstood disease.  50 years ago it was not thought of as a life threatening condition, but these days the rise in the number of cases could almost be described as an epidemic, and hospital admissions have more than trebled.  The basic cause of asthma is not yet known for certain.  Asthma is not "all in the mind,” rather it is a chronic lung condition.

Discover your Dosha type

This article will help you to determine your body type or dosha. In order to obtain an accurate result you must total the score to each section separately. When you have completed all three, compare the scores to determine which of the doshas most closely describes you.
It may be that your score in one section is around twice as high as the others, if this is the case you are a single dosha type, either vata, pitta or kapha.

Depression

Depression can be a completely appropriate response to a sudden life crisis.

Prevention of Migraine

Knowing what triggers migraines in your case can help you to avoid them, at least for some of the time.

Colour Therapy

Colour healing was part of the ancient wisdom practised in Egypt, Greece, China, India and Tibet. It was also part of the Mayan culture and the shamanic wisdom of the North American Indians.

Colds & Flu

Colds are contagious viral respiratory infections that cause inflammation in the linings of the nose and throat.

Balancing Vata

Vata people love change and excitement. They are usually slim, with dry hair and skin and often have poor circulation especially at the extremities

Balancing Pitta

Pitta people are often quite strong with a good appetite. Pittas need to eat regular meals, as when they are hungry they can be irritable or hypoglycaemic.
